Saturday 4th December saw the club hold our annual end of year xmas party, and what a party it was. With over 100 people in attendance it proved to be a pack filled night. The evening started at 6pm when guests started arriving. Finally after dragging themselves away from the bar we all seated to begin starters around 7.30pm.

As the main meals were starting to filter through Sensei Sat started the presentations giving awards to all his students, instructors, khalsa admin team and organisers and finally to students of the year.

This years non competition junior and adult students of the year went to Gary Taylor and Kash Mirza, followed by the Overall 2010 Student of the Year Shield going to Bleu Parris for his huge contribution not just in competition but dedicated training throughout the year.

After the awards the raffle prizes began with loads of goodies for everyone to choose from such as, £25 cinema tickets, x3 Sony Play station games worth over £60, crystal glasses worth over £50, DVD player, MP3 Player, Ab workout machine, cuddly toys, chocolates, wine, perfume and loads more!!! With a great commentary from the Dennis Cannon we moved onto the dance floor to enjoy the music!

This year we were lucky enough to have a british dance champion who basically showed us all up!!! But we did do our best and replied with some of our own moves, followed by Wayne Otto, Ian Cole and Nigel Parris having their own dance competition in the corner (which was hilarious)!!, whilst watching Harry, Paul, Jeremy, Jack and Sensei Sat trying to break dance!!!

Sensei Sat commented "The evening was absolutely fantastic and everyone had a great time. I would just like to thank all those who helped organise the party, the hawker centre again for their hospitality, to sensei's Ian Cole and Wayne Otto and all those that made the whole night so enjoyable!!! Thank you ever so much and have a great xmas and a happy new year!!!

Khalsa Champions Of England Summer Course 2010

Sensei LefevreThis year's Gasshaku was held again in Belgium with Sensei Lefevre's summer camp. With mainly seniors going this year and with Paul Campbell's group there was 20 of us travelling in total.

The week's training was awesome and with over 7-8 hours of training a day, I can honestly say we were KNACKERED!! But we had a terrific time.

The standard this year was very high with members from England, Luxemburg, Belgium and Holland National teams in attendance.

We would like to thank Sensei Lefevre very much for inviting us again for the 5th year and we now have the pleasure to announce Khalsa Champions will be training alongside Champions Club from now on.

Sensei Lefevre holds World and European titles in both forms Kata and Kumite, and has trained and competed with the best karate-ka's in the world, will now head the Khalsa Squad and will be training regularly with us in the UK.

Sensei Sat commented "This is exciting news for the club, and this multi style group will allow us to train with some of the best karate students in the world, under one of the all time greatest competitors, as well as becoming world referee and National Coach for 2 countries".

On the 5th June a big advertising campaign for the World Cup was launched to promote one of the world leaders in fast food, McDonalds.
There are two adverts currently being shown and we are very pleased to have one of our families featured in one of them.

The Parris Family shot the commercial back in March and it is now going to be aired for the 5 weeks that the World Cup is due to run for. It will receive a good amount of coverage and many have already spotted them on various TV channels, we at Khalsa are all very proud of their achievement!

We look forward to seeing them on our screens!

Congratulations to Sophie Santillo, who went to Yorkshire this weekend, to select for the 'A' Squad.

This weekend saw a lot of competitors fighting for a place to join the England Team and 'A' squads. After a good training session followed by fight offs, Sophie got the result she needed.

All members will have to come back to do fitness tests, but for now another good result for the squad!

Sensei Sat commented "I am very proud for Sophie, she works hard, trains hard and always does the best for herself and others. Her time was always coming, but she now cannot rest on her laurels and must continue to train hard in order to fight for England."

Well done also to Kira and Elle Munns Charlton for travelling this weekend and training hard. A good experience!

Sensei Sat commented "This is a good chance for all the girls understand their own end goals, whether training or selecting! Well done to you all!"
